The Children of The Night (part 7)

~+— IV. The Evening Dew —+~

Today, I couldn’t wait to see him again. I would wear my new dress for my beloved Ioan. He came silently as usual. He smelled so fresh tonight. His scent was like a grass in the midst of a damp foggy wood in the night. He smiled and kissed me. He didn’t say much. He looked a bit tired. I caress his hair softly. He didn’t even notice my new dress. Something had troubling him. I knew it. His face was so honest he couldn’t hide it from me. I asked him but he said there was nothing worries him. I suspect he might have found out who I really am. If that’s so, I had to warn Father Abel. I didn’t want my mission failed. He didn’t tell anything until he left. I hadn’t got much time to think further about Ioan’s strange behavior. I believe somehow he would be fine in a short time. I trusted him.

I had been very busy these days. My tasks had been doubled since Father Abel arrived. Not because he handed me a plenty of works but I often had to clean up the mess he had created. Father Abel was so disorganized. The worst thing was, when I was about to scold him, I always got hesitated. He always showed me his sweet innocent expression when he noticed the change in my face. I would feel guilty with my own anger every time I saw that sweet face. Father Abel always had a way to win my heart.

Tonight we were working late. This time we did a nice job until I ask Father Abel some papers we need for tomorrow’s project.
“Abel, where is the paper I need for tomorrow? You should hand it now or it would be too late for tomorrow.”
“Don’t worry, I have it with me.” He started to search the paper among a huge pile of papers. A minute, two minutes, ten minutes had gone…
“Umm, this should be here….”
“Where is it Abel?”
“Wait, it won’t be long. I know where I put it.” He smiled uneasily. “I should have put it here…” The pile started to get messy…
Suddenly he paused. He turned around and shows his usual “beg for mercy” expression….
“Dear Karin [with flowers], I am sorry… I have left the paper in my room upstairs… Don’t angry with me please…” I knew he started to get frightened to see a lot of “lightning” coming from my eyes. I smiled wickedly to him,
“I don’t know how you will hand it to me but I want go home now. I’m tired.” I yawned and left Father Abel dropped his jaw. I still heard he shout desperately,
“Karin, I’m sorry. Don’t be angry with me!”
As I start to walk out the door, a sweet familiar voice whispered in my ear,
“Don’t be in a rush dear.”
“Ioan! What are you doing in this place?”
Ioan smiled at me. He had a gun in his hand.
“Don’t you think I’m the one who should have asked that, what are you doing in this place?” His voice became harsh. He paused,
“Karin, why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Tell you what?”
“Tell me who you really are and what you are doing with the Vatican! You are working for Vatican, aren’t you? Why you are hiding this from me? I thought you were honest to me.” He got angry.
“Ioan, my works have to do nothing with you. Don’t you trust me?”
“Since you are hiding this from me, I can’t trust you anymore. You are planning something on us aren’t you?”
“I’m not planning anything harmful to you Ioan. I don’t even involve you in my tasks. I don’t want to put you in danger. I love you!” I approached him tried to calm him. He threw out my hands.
“Get off of me you Terran!”
Some footsteps approached,
“Karin, please don’t angry with me…” Seeing us, Abel stopped.
“Karin, are you alright?” He looked at us suspiciously.
“Abel!”
Suddenly Ioan grabbed me. He pointed his gun to Father Abel,
“You are Abel Nightroad, aren’t you? You have connection with missing Methuselahs who came to this place earlier because you have posted a secret weapon in this place. Take me to the weapon and I will do no harm to this girl.” He strangled my throat.
“Ioan!”
“Shut up!”
Father Abel looked at us puzzled.
“What are you talking about? I don’t know what you are talking about. I don’t carry any weapon. I’m only a traveling priest.”
“Don’t argue with me! I know you are lying. Take me to the weapon now!”
“Ioan let me go!” His fingers hurt my throat. I was choking heavily. Ioan suddenly threw me on the wall. My head hit the wall and everything went dark.

The Children of The Night (part 6)

~+— III. The Night Breeze. —+~

My long and painful journey finally had over. I left that Terran’s place as soon as I regained my consciousness. I had lost a large amount of blood that made me fell in dehydrated condition. I had to leave her as soon as possible because in this stage I might not be able to control my desire to drink her blood. So I left before the crave for blood consumed me completely. My ketouda* had managed to pick me up in the wood as I asked. My wound had stop bleeding but I had lost a lot of blood and the lethal effect of the silver bullet spread fast and already affected my internal organs. I started to loose my sight when I saw the rescue team approaching. My father was very angry seeing me coming home injured like this. I was supposed to lead a squad, but now lying helplessly on the bed instead.

During my bed rest I had never stop thinking about that Terran girl, Karin. When I met her first I thought of playing her before drained her blood to the last drop. Then I thought of taking her to my place to prison her as my slave. But the more I talked to her, the more I got attracted to her. She was beautiful for a Terran. Her figure somewhat looked stronger than any other Terran I’d ever got. She might be destined to be a Methuselah. When I got wounded and had to ask her to help me, I wasn’t sure if she responded positively to my request. She could just hand me over to her comrades and ended my life there but she willingly did the operation and saved my life. I was superior to her until she saved my life. My arrogance had been beaten. I had misunderstood her. I had misunderstood the Terrans. I felt sorry to humiliate her like that. I had to meet her again to apologize to her.

More than that, I had a deep longing to see her again since. I longed to touch her again. I felt really happy when I finally met her. She was the most precious thing I’ve ever had. I promise to myself I will make her happy in every way I could.

An investigation team arrived a day after my return. The team had interviewed me a plenty of questions. I said nothing about Karin. I just said I managed to hide myself in the Terrran’s territory safely until the chasing was over. I didn’t want the team know about her and harm her.

Every time I met her I felt my heart jumping with joy. But I had a problem. Every time I see her beautiful neck, I had to struggle hard not to bite her. The smell of her flesh always intoxicated me. I shivered every time I see her veins lied beneath her fair skin. There was a deep desire to enjoy her blood as much as I could. But I couldn’t do that. I did not want to hurt the person I love most. She was too precious to be hurt. I was beside her to protect her, to comfort her, not to kill or hurt her. This struggle made me cried all the time. I had ever cried abruptly in front of her. She was confused and asked why. I could not tell her the reason. I just kept my mouth shut. I cried silently and bit my own lips till blood filled my mouth.

My father ordered me to join the Elite Royal Guardian Squad. Since I had the obligation for my clan and responsible for the future of Vasilica, our ruling Royal Family I joined the squad. I smell something secret had moved beneath this decision but I didn’t know what it was. There was no clue of what is going on. One thing I know, I had to make sure Karin is save, everywhere. If something happened, I would save her first no matter what.

Tonight I was in the headquarters receiving my first mission. I went to the meeting room. The atmosphere was heavy. There were two comrades there. One was young; the other looked older than the other one. Their faces were stern. They looked at me with an unfriendly face. The younger guy stood as I entered the room.
“Brother Ioan, good evening. I’m Maxine from the Central order of the Royal Family Squad. I’m here to brief you the mission. Brother Dragomir that is sitting next to me is assigned as the witness for this meeting. This assignment will define the future of our race Methuselah in the future.”

“Our intelligence had reported that two Vatican agents have come to our Terran neighborhood Blagoevgrad. The first was working as an undercover priest named Abel Nightroad. He arrived in Blagoevgrad a month ago. The second one was working undercover as a civilian named Karin Moravia a ka Ekaterina Ivannov. She’s been two months in Blagoevgrad preparing the arrival of Abel Nightroad…” I was freezing. I had been so careless that wouldn’t suspect her as an undercover Vatican agent. My head got dizzy.

“…We have observed their activity. So far, they didn’t show any suspicious activity around Blagoevgrad. But there was information that after Abel Nightroad’s arrival, many Methuselah agents who had been assigned previously to investigate the issue have disappeared mysteriously entering that city. Our intelligence has strong indication that this could somehow relate to the arrival of Abel Nightroad. He might post some secret weapon there with the help from his assistant, Karin Moravia. We are still lacking of information of what kind of secret weapon the Vatican have posted. Your task is to seized their secret weapon. After you get the weapon you have to assassin both Vatican agents immediately. You will be provided with any facilities you needed. Any question?”
The rest is not important anymore. Our relationship was at a stake…

The Truth About Redemption

In Trinity Blood it's said that Abel had done terrible things during his past time. He thinks that what he has done is unforgivable that even he can't forgive it himself. The truth is, no matter big your crime is, there is always forgiveness. If you really regret what have you done and commit not to do it again, you can find redemption. There is a way to redeem even the most terrible sin. What kind of way is that? The way is through my savior Jesus Christ. He voluntarily offers himself to be the one who bear every people's guilt, sin, in the past, present and future in exchange for their life to be saved and freed. This is sound strange but that's why he came to this world two thousand years ago. He didn't come without a purpose. He has sacrificed himself two thousand years ago in an exchange for my live so after promise not doing it again, I can live guilt free from my past sins. This sound outrageous but one thing I know that I can't redeemed myself. Jesus is the one who can redeem my sins because he is a God. He is the one who created me. That's why he can offer himself to bear my sins voluntarily. He does that because he loves me. He wants me to be happy, to be close to him and can be around him every time. He has considered me as a precious child in his eyes. If Abel is a true Catholic Priest, he would know this concept. He would serve his life as an act of gratefulness because no matter big his sin is, there is always a way to forgive himself.

The Children of The Night (part 5)

~+— II. The Morning Light —+~

That night I was so restless for unknown reason. My heart was beating fast and I couldn’t close my eyes. I rolled out in my bed trying to find the most comfortable position to sleep and yet my eyes still opened wide. I was facing a wall till suddenly I felt someone moved close to me and touched my hair. I woke up and realize that it was only a dream.

I went to my work as usual. I received a special letter today. The church finally asked me to escort a guest from Vatican. They expected a priest who will stay for a while to help their local services. Finally they were progressing. I had waited for this more than a month. They promised to deliver the goods within a month but seemed there was a delay. The name of the guest priest was Abel Nightroad. I wonder what he would look like. From his name, he would be a fearful person, rough, an Anglo Saxon, and a human off course.

It was half an hour earlier from the schedule. I sat on the bench waiting for Father Nightroad as my fingers playing on a ring on my chest. A ring that I always brought everywhere I go. My mind flew back to the time when I accidentally met this vampire. A week had nearly past since that time. An unpleasant (there were always be like that off course) encountered with an arrogant Methuselah who insulted me, harassed me and yet I still helped him. He got wounded by silver bullet and asked me to save him from death. In exchange of his life he gave me his family seal with “Ioan Vasilica” written on. My wish was not get involved with him again but deep inside I had a slight wish to see him again. I don’t know why. Maybe there was some goodness in him that touched me. My body shivered remembering that moment again.

A train whistle woke me up. The train from Vatican had entered the platform. I rose from my seat and holding up the paper with “Abel Nightroad” name written on. I was expecting someone rough until I saw a gentle silver haired priest with a round glassed waving at me. Behind that pair of glasses, a pair of blue eyes like a lake in the winter was looking at me softly. His image was very different from my imagination. He looked soft, gentle, a bit clumsy and very smiley.
“Hello, I believe you are Karin, right? Nice to meet you. I’m Abel Nightroad, sent directly from Vatican.” A pair of white teeth appeared widely in front of me.
“Hello Father Nightroad. Nice to meet you.” He smiled and touched my hand,
“Just call me Abel.”
“Father, I mean Abel, did you have a nice journey? I believe the view around here is very beautiful, more beautiful than the Vatican.”
“Umm, yes a bit.” He scratched his head awkwardly trying to explain further until I overheard a man next to him said to his friends,
“I can’t believe this silly thing could happen in this peaceful train. That stupid priest, how could he suddenly pull an emergency brake without any reason? Look at my shirt now; stained by coffee! How could I attend a business meeting with this shirt?” I looked at Abel, and he was blushing,
“Oh…ehehe…. It was an accident actually. I got a train sick on board. I was so dizzy when I mistakenly pulled an emergency brake for a handle.” Poor Abel, he had made the whole passenger mad at him. Then I heard something strange underneath his chest. Ouw, seemed his stomach was empty and started to growl. He was blushing again,
“Oh, I’m sorry, please excuse my stomach. I haven’t got eaten anything since yesterday. Karin, could you please buy me something before we go to the church? I only had four dinars with me.” He smiled sweetly to me,
“I know a nice place to eat around here. Let’s go there!”
We had breakfast in a small cafĂ© near the station. Abel ate a lot of things; he even drank his tea with thirteen sugar cubes! I doubted that he hadn’t been eaten since yesterday because from the way he ate, seemed he hadn’t been eaten for a week! After he finished his breakfast, I drove him to straight to the central church.
Abel talked a lot on the way to the church. He was nice and gentle. He looked like a person who wouldn’t dare kill anything even a fly. I like him.

The sun had already set when I went home. I’m thinking of a nice hot shower on the way back home. A hot shower after a busy day felt so refreshing. I felt a lot better after that. As I go outside the bathroom I heard someone saying,
“Good evening beautiful lady.”
I turned around and see a familiar face. That Methuselah! I held my breath. He came closer and stood in front of me. He reached out his hand and held my face,
“It’s nice to see you are fine.” He grinned. I backed off slowly while my hand slid to the drawer looking for my gun. He showed a gun in his hand,
“Are you always looking for this?” He smiled sweetly,
“Don’t worry. I mean no harm to you. I haven’t introduced myself properly to you. My name is Ioan Vasilica from The Royal Guardian Family of The Methuselah of Vasilica. I’m sorry I had to leave without saying anything. I should have told this earlier but I had to rest for almost a week to heal my wounds. If you did not remove the silver bullet, I would be gone by now. My deep gratitude for that.” He bowed his head to me,
“I’m truly sorry for humiliating you that night. I should have ashamed of myself.” His voice trembled.
“What do you want now?” He came closer as I said that.
“Let me go! You promise not to kill me!”
I tried at least to kick him once but he pressed me tightly. He held my hands gently and caressed them,
“Sssh… Who said I would kill you? I will not harm you.” He suddenly kissed me. I gasped and tried to free myself. His lips were cold but some kind of warmth flowing from his lips.
“I never stop thinking about you since that night. I love you.” I was drowning in his embrace. He held me so tight as if wouldn’t let me go off of him again. I couldn’t resist him anymore at the end.
“I thought you were dead.” Tears slowly fell from my eyes. He smiled and wiped off the tears on my cheeks gently. He caressed my hair softly and looked at me.
“I will not die easily.” He kissed me again deeply..
“I’m all yours…”

I had never thought of loving a vampire in my life. I live in an ordinary life. My wish was simple, meet a regular guy and get married. But now with this situation, the possibility of getting an ordinary life in the future was zero. What kind of future will I have if I had a vampire boyfriend? My life would never be the same again.

Ioan always visited me after sunset. He had to come unnoticed and untouched by the sunbeam. He was very different from the first time we met. He was actually the gentlest and the kindest person I had ever met. Tonight, I was supposed to meet him but he unusually came late. He appeared differently, he was wearing a new of uniform I hadn’t seen before.
“What is this outfit?”
“This is the Elite Royal Guardian Squad uniform. I joined them few days ago. My clan is a guardian clan. In order to contribute my loyalty to the Royal Family I have to join their force after some delay.” I felt uneasy about this. This movement was like preparing some war.
“Do your people plan on some kind of war against us?”
“I don’t think so. As far as I know this is only a matter of security. If war would be occurred I wouldn’t be here then.” He smiled at me.
“Hmm. I’m not sure about this.”

The Children of The Night (part 4)

~+--- I. The Fall of The Evening ---+~ (4)

I quickly locked all windows and doors as he left, prevented him from coming back again. I was in relief as I locked the last window. Thinking of a nice hot shower after this horror would be nice for sure…
“You forgot to lock this window…”
My heart stopped. Oh no, that vampire again. He stood in front of me with a wide smile showing his fangs. He grabbed my arms and put his fangs on my neck,
“Now it’s drinking time… I’m so thirsty…”
Suddenly he coughed. Some thick almost black liquid spread all over my body. He growled in agony and fell on me. I struggled to release myself from him but it was not easy. A pond of blood beneath made the floor slippery and I failed to keep my body stand firm. I fell again and again until finally succeeded to stay still. I turned him around and saw his chest was bleeding. He panted and groaned,
“Help me!”
I was terrified. How could I do that to this person, a Methuselah, my enemy?
“No, I can’t. I’d rather let you die.” He looked at me helplessly,
“I promise I will not kill you if you help me.”
“How do I know you will keep your promise, Methuselah?”
He pulled a ring from his finger.
“Keep this. This is my royal stamp. Whoever brings this ring will not be harmed or killed. Keep this!” He put the ring on my hand.
I was stunned. Not only by his promise but seeing blood all over the place made me sick. My head went dizzy. He screamed in pain,
“Please take out the bullet inside my chest or I will die soon!”
“I’m not a surgeon. I can’t do any operation.”
“Just pull it with your fingers. It’s okay.” He held my hand and brought my fingers to the wound. I put my fingers into the bleeding flesh, trying to find the bullet. He screamed in agony as my fingers went deeper. Gosh, I almost lost my consciousness doing this. His screaming and this “operation” thing were almost beyond my limit. The thick mixture of flesh and blood made me hard to find the bullet. He groaned like a beast and plunged his claws into my arm. I gripped that struggling hands tightly trying to calm him.
“Hold still. It’s almost there.”
I finally got the bullet and threw it away. I almost couldn’t stand still. My head was spinning around. I rushed into the toilet and vomited.
I felt a lot better after releasing the content of my stomach. That Methuselah was still lying on the floor, breathing peacefully. He had lost his consciousness. Now, I had to move him from the pond of his blood. I started to drag him away from the floor. He was so heavy! I also had to remove his blood stained clothes and clean his body to be able to bandage the wound. It’s not an easy job.
After finished dragging him to the bed, I fell on the side of the bed. Sat still there, I held the ring he gave me. It was made of some kind of metallic; might be platinum. On the seal, it has a Cyrillic inscription “Ioan Vasilica”. Maybe it was his name. I looked at the sleeping vampire next to me. Seeing him harmless like this, made me felt sorry for him. I reached out my hand and caressed his hair to comfort him. He seemed saying something but I couldn’t catch his soft voice. Then I fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning. There was no trace of him except the ring in my hand.

The Children of The Night (part 3)

~+--- I. The Fall of The Evening ---+~ (3)

“Damn you!” He punched me till I hit the wall. Pain was all over my body. His fist shaken in extreme anger.
“You ruin my plan! I should have killed you by now!”
“Please don’t kill me….”
“Shut up you bitch!”
“Free me now. I promise not screaming again or running away or do anything stupid. Please…”
He growled, grabbed my neck with only a hand and choked me hard. I struggled hard to free myself but all my efforts were useless. He moved closer and pressed his body unto me. His sharp white fangs were less than an inch away over my face.
“There is no difference to kill you now or later!” He held me and pushed me hard.
He paused. Suddenly he was silent for a moment,
“Sit there!” He pointed a chair next to me.
“Can I turn the light on?”
“Turn on the small one.” I turned on the light and looked at him. Now I saw his face clearer. His face was very handsome. He was really beautiful with his long wavy dark hair. I thought I was going to see a creepy evil looking vampire with pointy ears but he didn’t look like that… His figure was slim, beautiful and yet strong. His eyes were purple; sparkling like small stars in the midnight. He looked so ordinary with his noble suit. His expression is common, nothing creepy on his expression (except his behavior). I wouldn’t think he would be a vampire if I met a person like this on the street. He was too beautiful for a vampire. He looked at me sharply,
“I have decided. I will not kill you for the time being… Hmm…” He was thinking,
“Whether I kill you or not depends on my mood later on.” His icy fingers slowly caressed my face down to my throat.
“Maybe you can be my slave…” He whispered on my ears,
“So I can enjoy you as much as I can….”
I trembled. I had to think of something to free myself from him.
“What’s your name slave?” I was quiet. Was a name important in a time like this?
“Hey, I ask you, what’s your name? Are you deaf or what?” His fingers pressed my throat. He was getting impatient.
“Karin… Moravia.” I said coldly without seeing him. He held my chin and turned my face to his,
“Hey, look at me when talking to me!” He touched my cheek and examined my face intensely,
“Hmm, so smooth… So delicate… You are very beautiful. Such a waste to kill a beautiful creature like you. Taking you to my place would be better…” I tossed his hand away,
“That won’t happen!”
He grinned,
“Wow, you slave are so wild! You need to be tamed!”
I tried to free myself but he locked my both hands.
“I had learned my lesson very well pretty lady. This time I won’t let you run away from me.”
He pressed my throat, slides his icy fingers down under my shirt and started to caress my skin. I shivered. His breath touched my skin.
“Don’t be rough on me. I won’t be rough on you anymore. Relax…” He grinned wickedly,
“Poor you…. You don’t have much choice do you?” My heart was beating fast. His hands was getting lower and started to touch my breast. He whispered,
“Should I remind you again I have freedom to do anything I like on you?” He got aroused,
“Let’s see, what else I can get from this beautiful slave….”
Suddenly a shot heard, followed by some shots and a scream, not human, more like an animal. Then I heard someone fell. He quickly looked at the window,
“Damn, they got Georgy.” He was angry and flew through the window.
